The Newfoundland & Labrador Trapper's Association

Mission Statement
To promote and preserve the trapping heritage of our province by working cooperatively with our resource management agencies and other stakeholders, representing the best interest of our province’s trappers and educating new and veteran trappers, as well as the interested public, in the latest innovative methods, equipment and economic and cultural value of our profession.

Who We Are....
History of the NLTA
On January 13, 1977 a small but dedicated core group of western and central Newfoundland trappers met during a fur handling workshop in Deer Lake and founded what was initially known as the Newfoundland Trappers Association, eventually to become the Newfoundland and Labrador Trappers Association. The original senior executive was comprised of George Jennings of Corner Brook as President, Gerald Spencer of Glenwood as Vice-President and Bert Coish, also of Corner Brook, as Secretary-Treasurer.
