Open Letter to NL Political Leaders:

In this provincial election year, NLTA is writing our political party leaders to gauge their responses to some of our concerns. If and when we receive responses, these will also be posted. We ask our members to consider these response carefully, and vote accordingly.

Open Letter to NL Political Party Leaders – UPDATE.

“Since posting our open letter of concerns and forwarding it to the party leaders a full month ago on September 16, to date we have only had one response, that being from the New Democratic Party, who have advised that they will provide us with a formal response  for website posting in early November. While we have no intention of influencing how our members decide to vote, the silence of the other two parties contacted is indeed deafening. We will advise you should we receive a response from the two hold-outs parties, and we will promptly post the NDP response once it arrives.”

March 13, 2015 Update: Trapper Cabin Policy

Yesterday afternoon, our Treasurer received a generic invitation for NLTA to participate in a Lands Act review process, which apparently has been ongoing since February 9 past. Since our initial request to government in February of 2014, there has been no contact with NLTA by Crown Lands. In fact, our last two letters to the responsible Ministers (Sept. 2014 to Vaughn Granter; February 2015 to Keith Hutchings) have yet to generate a response. NLTA will be making a written submission on a fair and modern Trapper Cabin Policy to the Lands Act review. The basics of this submission has already been provided to Crown Lands by way no less than of three letters to the Minister. In the meantime, we pass along this rather late release on the schedule of public consultations so that interested trappers may participate. We also encourage members to e-mail us your comments to nltrappersassoc@gmail.com so that salient points can be incorporated in our submission. Here is the e-mail notice as received by our Treasurer:

IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED IF YOU COULD PLEASE FORWARD THE ATTACHED LANDS ACT REVIEW PUBLIC CONSULTATION NOTICE TO YOUR MEMBERS AND TO ANY OTHER INTERESTED PARTIES.
